April Events in Newnan

Taste of Newman

The Taste of Newman is downtown’s largest event and one that you can’t miss. The event is held once in the spring and again in the fall. Over 7,000 people visit to partake of samples from over 40 local food vendors. Be sure you have plenty of tickets. Each ticket is $1 and each “taste” costs between 1 and 10 tickets.

The Taste of Newman starts at 5:00 p.m. and ends at 8:30 p.m. and is held on North and South Court Square. Besides tasting food and drink from the vendors, enjoy live entertainment on two stages, a Kids Zone with rides and games, face painting and more.

If you don’t want to wait with the crowd to purchase tickets, you can purchase tokens at many downtown locations. Ticket sales end at noon on April 16, 2015, the day of the festival. There is no admission charge.

You can find free parking along any of the streets downtown and it public parking lots at 13 Lagrange Street, 25 Lagrange Street, 22 Spring Street, 6 First Avenue, 50 East Broad Street, 65 East Broad Street, 41 East Washington Street, and 22 East Broad Street.

Pickin on the Square

Visit the Court House Square in downtown Newman on the first and third Saturdays of the month to enjoy this event. Listen to local musicians, enjoy Market Day, or even participate in the festival. While there isn’t a dedicated time for the event, musicians usually arrive around 10:00 a.m. and stay until 2:00 p.m. If you do want to play or meet someone to play with, the event is acoustic only. You can find free public parking on the streets of downtown or in any of the public parking lots.
