Big Game Must Haves

2-3-2016-BigGameMustHaves

When it’s time for the big game, you’ll need to have the right things ready for the guests. This includes a big screen TV, a great surround sound system and plenty of food. If a big screen TV won’t fit in your vehicle, stop by SouthTowne Motors to test drive a vehicle that is big enough to carry the TV in the event the store won’t deliver it on time for the big game. You might also want to have a football so that you can toss it around before and after the game – or during commercials if you don’t care to watch some of the best commercials on television.

Jelly Wieners

  • 2 pounds of baby wieners*
  • 1 large jar grape jelly
  • 1 jar chili sauce

Instructions: Turn the crock pot on medium low. Add the jelly and chili sauce. Mix thoroughly. Add the wieners. Cook on medium low for about 3 hours. When the jelly melts completely, turn the temperature down to keep the wieners warm.

* You can also make this with baby meatballs.

Tater Skins

When you bake potatoes, save the skins, making sure each skin has at least a half-inch of potato left along the skin. Fill the skins with chopped green onions, pre-cooked bacon and cheese. Heat them in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted.

Beer Cooler

Instead of having guests constantly opening the fridge, fill a large cooler with beer, soda, water and ice. You’ll be able to keep the cooler on the porch; or if you want to keep it inside, place plastic on the floor and then newspaper on top of the plastic. This will keep the condensation that forms on the cooler from soaking the floor.

Chips ‘n Dip

Be sure to have at least two or three varieties of chips and dip available. French Onion and ranch are two popular flavors of dip.

Pizza

The Super Bowl isn’t the Super Bowl without pizza. If you prefer to bake the pizza at home, pick up three or four different varieties of pizza. As you finish baking them, cut them into slices. Place the slices on cookie sheets and put them in the oven at 185 degrees Fahrenheit to warm them up. Or, you can use the microwave to warm up individual slices.
