New Look For GMC in 2016

8-7-2015-GMCFutureVehicles

When you stop by SouthTowne Motors to test drive the new 2016 GMC Sierra, you’ll notice that this truck has a new look. Right away, you’ll notice some tailgate and front-end upgrades. Changes are taking place across most trim levels – and though it hasn’t been announced yet, you might see some powertrain changes when GMC releases the 2016 model year.

Bolder Grilles

The SLT, Denali and the All Terrain trim levels will each have a new, unique and bolder grille design – and that is going to be one of the first things you’ll notice when you walk up to the 2016 model year versions of this popular half-ton truck.

The Trim Levels

As in the past, the Denali trim level will be in the forefront with the flattest grille surface and will have the most chrome. The All Terrain is the new entry level trim level and it features a unique color coded grille and bumper. And the ever popular SLT model is expected to be the most popular model again this year.

Grille Differences

The grilles on all trim levels will features a deeper trapezoidal cut in the lower bumper, new LED projector headlights and a bigger GMC logo. Plus, the rear taillight designs on all trim levels will features a C-shaped LED look which matches the truck’s front daytime running lights.

Additional Changes

Since Chevy made some changes to its powertrain for the 2016 Silverado, it is expected that GMC will follow suit by making its eight-speed transmission more available for the 5.3-liter option. It is expected that the 6.2-liter V-8 and the V-6 options will stay the same as those on the 2015 model years.

Why Buy GMC?

2-6-2015-WhyBuyGMC-2

When it’s time to buy or lease a new vehicle, you have so many choices – first you must choose a manufacturer, then a model. Even then, you’re not done with the decision-making process yet – you still have to decide which trim level you want.

Buying or Leasing

Once you decide whether you want to buy or lease, you can head out to just about any dealership including SouthTowne Motors to get the vehicle that best fits your lifestyle. In most cases, if you choose to lease, you can afford a more expensive vehicle as you are only paying on the depreciation.

Choosing a Manufacturer

People often choose a manufacturer because a friend or relative recommended a certain make or because they’ve owned that make before and had good luck with it. Sometimes, a person wants to change his loyalties to a different manufacturer because of his or her experience with a current vehicle; or because a friend or relative had issues with the vehicle. And, of course, there is always the first-time car buyer who may have to make that decision.

Choosing a manufacturer is, in most cases, a personal decision. One of the ways you can make this decision is to test drive more than one make and model. That way, you get a good feel for the make and model.

Why You Should Buy a GMC

GMC trucks and SUV models are near the top of the line for GM products. If you want a vehicle that has luxurious appointments without paying the higher prices of luxury brands, and you want something that allows you to use the truck as a work truck without having a coronary, then you should buy a GMC.

Additionally, GMC models feature OnStar; and some features IntelliLink. You can also log on to GMC’s owner pages for OnStar diagnostics, warranty tracker, service history, your vehicle’s profile and GMC’s recall center so that you remain knowledgeable about your vehicle and the services you need to have done to keep your truck or SUV happy and healthy.

And, you can choose from many different trim levels. You can choose the “mack daddy” trim level or choose a lower trim level. If you don’t want the tons of bells and whistles that come with the mack daddy trim level but want something that is not on a lower trim level – for example, blind spot monitoring – you can always add that function.

2015 Sierra Beats Heavy Duty Challenge

2015 GMC Sierra 3500HD Newnan, GA 1GT422CGXFF110642

There’s no greater feeling in the world than knowing you drive the best truck out there. You climb into the cab and know you can tackle anything the day throws at you. You feel safe and secure and are eager to begin towing or hauling or whatever project you have. This is the same thrill you receive in the driver’s seat of the 2015 GMC Sierra 3500 HD. This truck was awarded the overall winning title in the 1-ton diesel category of the 2014 Heavy Duty Challenge. Here’s why.

The 2015 Sierra 3500 was put up against its two main competitors, the Ford F350 and the Ram 3500. It’s engine, the 6.6L Duramax Diesel, excelled against the engines of the other two, the Powerstroke diesel and Cummins diesel, respectively. The judges at the event even commented on the inside of the Sierra saying how much they enjoyed the newly designed interior and infotainment display. This truck scored high in vehicle control while towing. Cruise control, diesel exhaust brakes and grade braking help to relieve stress for drivers who do a lot of long-distance hauling and towing.

One of the tests performed was to descend 7.2 miles down the Eisenhower Pass in Colorado, which has up to a 7 percent grade. During this test, they counted how many brake pedal depressions were used. While the Ford tested with one brake depression and the Ram with five, the Sierra blew them out of the water with no brake pedal depressions at all. This is incredible. It also won in several other categories as well including the 0-60 mph on the Milan dragway, fuel economy with a trailer, and the 60-0 mpg braking at Proving Ground. All of these tests have proved that the Sierra is the best truck in class on the market today. Every Sierra HD comes with a five-year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty, Pro Grade Protection, and a two-year or 24,000 mile standard scheduled maintenance.

This winning truck can be found today at your Newnan GMC dealership. Stop by to take a test drive or to see other trucks, cars and SUVs that may suit your needs. We look forward to seeing you soon.

2014 Silverado and Sierra Deliver

Everyone knows that GMC and Chevrolet deliver the best trucks for heavy duty work and towing. However, there are current reports that they have achieved an even higher standard for their own trucks. Both the GMC Sierra and Sierra Denali 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and High County have been equipped with a 6.2L V8 engine. This option allows these trucks to receive an SAE-certified 420 horsepower with 460 pounds of torque. Unbelievable! This is the most power any light pickup truck has ever seen.

The Silverado LTZ and High Country also have an outstanding ability to tow up to 12,000 pounds when they are equipped properly. The same holds true for the Sierra SLT and Denali models. There is also an optional Max Trailering Package available for certain models. This package includes enhanced cooling, automatic locking rear differential, increased-capacity rear leaf springs, revised shock tuning for increased control and an integrated trailer brake controller.

There will also be two other different engine options available for the Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500; the 4.3L V6 and the 5.3L V8. The 4.3L engine will produce 285 horsepower and 305 pounds of torque while the 5.3L will put out slightly more at 355 horsepower and 383 pounds of torque. The smaller of the engines, the 4.3L, will be able to haul up to 7,600 pounds which is still the highest in the division. The larger of the two mentioned options will be able to tow up to 11,500 pounds when correctly fortified.

All three of the above engines feature the direct fuel injection system along with Active Fuel Management and a continuously variable valve timing. All of these things together have not been found in any competitors trucks. There are also energy saving components such as aluminum blocks and cylinder heads. All three engines also switch effortlessly back into four cylinder mode when not towing a large load. The 5.3L engine actually has an estimated fuel economy of 23 mpg highway which is better than even the Ford EcoBoost V6.

When you’re ready to test drive these fabulous trucks, stop on in at your local Newnan car dealer. At SouthTowne Motors, we have everything and more that you are looking for.
