Chevrolet Hurricane Sandy Relief

How does Chevrolet give back to the community? By understanding when they have something that can be very valuable to those in time of crisis. I’m talking about Chevy’s Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. According to CBS News:

Chevrolet has donated 50 Silverado pickups and Express cargo vans to the American Red Cross. They’ll be used in relief efforts across the Eastern seaboard and in other areas affected by the storm.

Further, General Motors On-Star team is equipping each of these vehicles with turn-by-turn navigation, hands-free calling and other services. The stock is being pulled from dealers inventory to expedite delivery and the contribution of trucks and vans comes in addition to $250,000 that the nonprofit GM Foundation has donated to the Red Cross Disaster Responder Program.

General Motors Chairman and CEO Dan Akerson notes that ”It is during disasters like this that we all need to pull together as a country and Chevrolet has a role in that.” GM is also encouraging the public to contribute to the relief efforts by making a donation to the American Red Cross by visiting or by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767).

Atlanta, if you’d like to contribute, you can visit the Red Cross link above and donate. Also, it’s not just the Hurricane that those in the Northeast need to worry about. As I’m typing this, a winter storm is headed their way that will bring rains and very cold weather. Now, we all can’t donate vehicles, but any assistance you can provide will be welcomed.
