Are you looking for some way to spend your long Columbus Day weekend? We have just the ticket for some family fun. Here are a few events or activities happening this weekend that are sure to put a smile on everyone’s face.

If you have never been to Dunaway Gardens, now would be the time to go. They only open the doors to the public at very specific times of the year. They are opening the doors for seven days this month; October 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19 and 25. The price for admission is $10 per adult and $8 per child. This beautiful floral and rock oasis is situated within Coweta County and has been listed as a Historic Place on the National Registry. There are large floral gardens and it is home of the South’s largest natural rock. Spring-fed pools, rock paths and waterfalls also dot the landscape throughout the gardens.

How about some food, fun and opa? The Atlanta Greek Festival is back this year from October 9 til the 12 at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Atlanta. All of the things you love about Greek culture will be present including live entertainment, dancing, cooking demonstrations and, of course, food. They will be serving up some of the best Greek gourmet foods around. There will be a free shuttle to get you to and from the event parking areas so no need to fight for the best spot. No time to attend the festival but you still want some of that amazing Greek food? No problem. A Taste of Athens in Minutes will gladly whip up your favorites in their convenient drive-thru at the festival. Tickets are just $5 for ages 12 and older.

If you are up for a drive to the mountains in your Newnan Chevy for the weekend then we have just the event for you. The Georgia Apple Festival in Ellijay is returning and there will be over 300 venders this year all with unique items for sale. Enjoy perusing through hand-crafted pieces, homemade jams, jellies, breads and more. Catch the parade or antique car show, which they hold every year. Don’t forget to pick your own apples at the nearby orchards.
