Diagnose Suspension Noises In Your Atlanta Car

“Hey, what’s that noise I hear in my front end suspension?” It could be a number of issues, but your Atlanta GM dealer, the Southtowne General Motors Superstore wants you to know not to worry, it’s probably an easier fix than you think.

Suspension noises are usually heard when the wheels are traveling up and down. As you know, hitting potholes, bumps and the occasional curb (yes I’m guilty of that  too) can result in your Atlanta car or truck developing a clunking or rattling sound. Many times the noise you are hearing will increase in volume the longer you let it go. So, what’s happening down there? Well, it could be any number of things.

PROBABLE CAUSE
REMEDY
Loose shock absorber mountings. Tighten nuts, or replace bushings.
Loose strut mounting nut. Tighten or replace mounting nut.
Worn shocks or struts. Replace struts or shocks.
Deteriorated suspension bushings. Replace bushings.

The good news is that the remedies for most noises are fairly easy to perform. However, most people don’t have the lift equipment to get under their Atlanta cars safely. More than likely, if you are hearing any number of noises described above, it’s going to take an expert to get in there and perform the work. Even something as simple as tightening nuts will require the right tools and technical know-how. You are probably better off bringing your Atlanta Buick, GMC, Chevy or Cadillac to the Southtowne General Motors Superstore.
