Fall Foliage Drives

11-12-2015-FallFoliageDrives

You can still catch some great color in Georgia, so if you missed out on the fall foliage drives in the Blue Ridge Mountains earlier, head out to some of the state parks in Georgia to get some great pictures. Before you head out, be sure to have your vehicle serviced at SouthTowne Motors of Newnan.

Amicalola Falls State Park

For red and auburn mixed with dark orange, visit the Amicalola Falls State Park in Dawsonville. The colors are highly contrasted with the several shades of green from the pines and the brown oaks in the area. Visit the top of the falls to get a great view of bright oranges and yellows in the lower elevations.

Cloudland Canyon State Park

This park, just outside of Chattanooga, Tennessee, is past its prime for great colors, but you can still find some bright spots. The leaves in the valley and canyon just peaked in the week of November 6, so you’ll see plenty of color there. This Georgia park has rim overlooks that are easy to reach; plus, for those who prefer a challenge, you’ll find challenging hiking trails.

F.D. Roosevelt State Park

While the peak at F.D. Roosevelt State Park was during the week of November 6, you should still be able to see some colors lingering. Hike the 6.7-mile Wolf Den Loop or drive to Dowdell’s Knob for some great scenery and to see the life-size sculpture of President Roosevelt.

Additional Parks

You may find some lingering colors at additional parks including Moccasin Creek State Park in Lake Burton, Red Top Mountain State Park in Lake Allatoona, and Smithgall Woods State Park in Helen.
