Independence Day Road Trips

There are many ways in which to celebrate America’s Independence this year. For most of us, we are content with cookouts or gatherings with our friends and family for the holiday. Others may want to spend it away from home. If this speaks to you, we have some great Independence Day road trips for you to partake in with your Newnan Chevy. Many of the battles that were fought for our country’s freedom took place in the Northeastern area of the states. Because of this, the New England area is the perfect place to head this Fourth of July.

Naturally, any area in Massachusetts will be holding a fantastic event in almost every city. The Boston area will hold the most but if you are willing to drive just a little farther west from there, you will find a quaint area called Sturbridge. For their Fourth of July celebration, the Old Sturbridge Village will be reading a copy of the Declaration of Independence and recreating life of the 1830s in their living history museum. There will be fireworks at dusk and a buffet will be offered for $19.95 per adult and $9.95 per child.

Another superb place to be if you’re in Massachusetts is Marblehead. This quaint oceanfront town has loads of music, food vendors, crafts, activities and more for the Fourth of July weekend. This small town always draws a crowd so find your parking spot early. The show begins at 8:45 with red flares from the Harbor Illumination which is the signal to take your seats. Fireworks begin at 9pm and the best spot to watch is either Chandler Hovey Park or Crocker Park.

Washington D.C. is a great area to spend the holiday weekend. There is so much to do and see here that you can easily spend a few days and still not see everything you wanted. The National Mall, which includes many monuments and museums, is the perfect place to watch the fireworks light up the night sky. There will be a parade that starts off the day beginning at Constitution Avenue at 11:45am. It will feature marching bands, floats, VIPs and military units. The Smithsonian will be holding their Folklife Festival as well which includes music, dancing, cooking and arts and crafts.

Have a fun, safe and happy July Fourth from your friends at SouthTowne Motors.
