Newnan Geocaching

Newnan GeocachingGeocaching is a growing hobby that hundreds of thousands of people around the world share. It is an outdoor game that uses GPS-enabled devices to find and hide containers, called caches, in parks, hiking trails or even parking lots. No matter where you go, there is always a cache nearby. Even if you are just going to the store or running and errand, check to see if there’s one near you. All you need to get started is a free basic membership on geocaching.com and an app you can download for your smartphone.

Newnan, Ga has many geocaches available for seeking. The Spirit of Independence #1 (GCVTFB) is a great multi-cache, which is a type that takes you to numerous locations before locating the actual container, and is hidden in the Oak Hill Cemetery. This is a somewhat challenging cache but well worth it if you love history.

Love parks? Well, pack up the Chevy and head out for a day trip to find all 35 caches in the Chattahoochee Bend State Park. A lot of the caches are in a line of each other but some are placed sporadically throughout the park. This beautiful area encompasses almost 3,000 acres of lush greenery and is one of the largest state parks in Georgia. If you’d like to make a night of it, they offer a campground with over 50 campsites starting at $9 per night.

There are even at least half a dozen caches you can easily access after browsing your Newnan Chevy dealer. That’s right. There are 3 right across the streets from SouthTowne and a couple of them just down the road from us. Or if you’re coming back into town, there are several right off the highway. Just take a look at your geocaching application on your way in.

Get out there and have some fun, Newnan!
