And, if you just bought a new vehicle from us, you are definitely deserving of a road trip to relaxation. Head over the border to South Carolina to visit Ninety Six National Historic Site.

What the Park Commemorates

The Ninety Six National Historic Site commemorate the first battle south of New England during the Revolutionary War. The battle was fought from November 19 through 21, 1775. It had the longest field siege of the Revolution. The siege lasted 28 days: From May through June 1871. The battle fought at Ninety Six played a major part in the defeat of the British at the October 1781 battle at Yorktown, Virginia.

About the Park

Ninety Six was established in 1976 and features 1,022 acres. The park is open throughout the year, and features tours led by park rangers. In addition to the ranger-led tours, the park offers many other activities including the Historic Interpretive Trail, a 1-mile walking trail that features reconstructed buildings including the Stockade Fort and the original 1781 Star Fort. The trail also includes the town site of old Ninety Six.

For those who love to hike, the park features several primitive trails, including the Gouedy Trail and Cherokee Path. Pick up a trail map at the visitor’s center. If you prefer to just picnic, the park features a picnic area down trail from the log house near the parking lot. The picnic area has six to eight picnic tables that are available on a first-come, first serve basis. Two of the tables are handicap accessible.

And, if you want to go fishing, head over to Star Fort Pond. You are permitted to fish this 26-acre lake on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from April 1 to November 1. Fishing starts at 30 minutes before sunrise and ends 30 minutes after sunset.

Park Hours

The park is open from sunrise to sunset and the visitor’s center is open from Wednesday to Sunday 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Restrooms and gates close at 5:00 p.m.
