October Events

It’s that time of year again for spooky events and frightful activities. There are numerous things to do around the Newnan area. For those who do not mind a short drive, there are even some great attractions near the Atlanta area.

If you want to stay around town and crave a thrill, check out the 13 Stories Haunted House. There are 5 attractions in this haunted house that will leave you screaming, literally, for more. Tour through their 54,000 square foot haunted house, Vertigo, Horror Hill Zombie Alley, Clown Haud 3D and then 13 Xtreme. They say this haunted house is one of the most horrifying around. They do have ‘chicken doors’ if you can’t take some of the disturbing scenes. This isn’t for the faint of heart. Tickets range from $10 to $30.

Stone Mountain is known for its many wonderful attractions. Aside from the usual fun and family-friendly attractions, during the month of October, they are having their 11th Annual Pumpkin Festival. During this event, there will be Spookley’s A-MAZE-ING Adventure Maze, Pumpkinpalooza, a pie eating contest, dozens of arts and crafts and even a trick-or-treat scavenger hunt. The fun starts at $22 for children and $28 for adults.

The Atlanta Greek Festival is happening October 3rd through the 6that the Greek Orthodox Church in Atlanta. There will be food, dancing, singing and tons of authentic Greek arts and crafts made by the local Greek community. Want to learn how to cook the delicious Greek food? Live cooking demonstrations will be held throughout the event. There are also exhibits that will teach you all about the Greek culture and customs and highlight contributions to the Americas. Admission is just $5 for adults. Children 12 and under are free.

Little 5 Points is having their Halloween Festival and Parade on October 19th from Noon until 10 pm. There will be loads of live entertainment all over the area and food and artist vendors galore. Be sure to take part in this one-of-a-kind event at this historic location.

Another great city to visit for the best Oktoberfest event is Helen, Ga. This little Alpine town that mimics a German city holds a parade and many festivities throughout the month. This year they are celebrating their 43rdAnnual Oktoberfest. There will be beer of all kinds and dozens of local stores selling festive arts and crafts.
