Oktoberfest is time of year that is used for celebrating with German beer, bratwurst, sauerkraut and polka music. There are lots of great places around the world that partake in this seasonal tradition. You needn’t go far, however, for a fun-filled family event this year. There are a number of great happenings right here near your Newnan Buick dealer.

Savannah

The historic Riverfront will be celebrating their 31 Annual Oktoberfest with Wiener Dog Races, Bratwurst sampling, and Oomph dancing. The festivities beign Friday, October 3 through the fifth. Enjoy all that is German with a beer garden that offers a diverse assortment of German brews. The Wiener Dog Races will be hosted by the Savannah Morning News. This event is free and open to the public.

Effingham Oktoberfest

Join the 5th Annual Effingham Oktoberfest celebration. Last year’s event attracted over 5,000 people and this year’s festivities are gearing up to be bigger and better. Enjoy authentic German treats, handmade crafts, browse over 80+ vendors, listen to traditional music, and join the Best Facial Whisker contest with a cash prize. Families are encouraged to pull out their lederhosen and do the chicken dance with their kids. Stay late for the evening concerts on the main stage.

Macon Oktoberfest

Raise your steins on October 24 and 25 in Tattnall Square Park. Gather alongside the long tables dressed in foliage to drink in the celebration. There will be live music throughout the evening. Tantalize your taste buds with authentic Bavarian fares and brews. All proceeds raised by this event will be going directly to charity. The funds raised will be split between the following orgaizations; L.H. Harris Ecology Center, Alzheimer’s Association, Georgia Chapter, and All About Animal Rescue. So come on out and have fun while supporting a worthy cause.

Helen, Georgia

Helen has one of the longest running Oktoberfest celebrations across the globe. It begins the middle of September and runs through the end of October, even including Halloween. This town was modeled after a Bavarian alpine village so it feels more authetic. Helen’s Oktoberfest has everything including lederhosen, beer, brats and live German bands playing polka music.
