September Events

The end of the summer brings loads of festivals, fairs and events all over the country. Right here around Newnan, GA, there are several activities you and your family can enjoy together. Some are cheap or even free. The highlights are listed below.

The Farmer’s Market of Newnan is open every Wednesday from 9 am until 1 pm. All of the vendors at this market meet strict requirements before being allowed to sell their wares to the public. During the month of September, there are almost two dozen different fresh fruits and vegetables in season. Among these delectable crops are apples, beans, eggplant, garlic, muscadine grapes, mushrooms, okra, sweet potatoes, squash, tomatoes and more. There is also a varied assortment of flowers and homemade gifts and specialties.

Callaway Gardens is allowing admission for free on Wednesday, September 11th. Imagine walking through rows and rows of seasonal flowers in bloom and learning all you can about gardens and nature. Of course, there is more to do at the Gardens than just flowers. They have hot air balloons, trails for hikes, educational workshops and more. You can save $18 per adult with this deal.

Family Fun Night is held every Thursday night from 5:30 pm until 8 pm. There will be face painting and balloon art with Dusty the Clown! There is no cost for this event and it is being held on September 12th at the Wendy’s at Thomas Crossroads. This is a great place for the family to relax and have a fun night out!

Hop in your Chevy and drive down to the best peanut festival around. The 17th Annual Plains Peanut Festival will be held the last weekend of September. This charming festival is centered around Sumter County’s claim to fame: peanuts. This event will start off with a one mile fun-run followed by a 5K road race. There will also be a parade on Main street, a book singing by President Carter and his wife, a train ride and lots more. This quaint town is where the 39th President of the United States, Jimmy Carter, calls home.

This fantastic month is full of things to do and places to see. SouthTowne Motors wishes you and your family a safe and happy month!
