If you are looking for something to do, take a road trip to Sweetwater Creek State Park. This park offers tons of activities and allows you to reserve a conference room, your choice of eight picnic shelter and a group shelter. The conference room or the group shelter is perfect for a workplace meeting or gathering.

Jr. Ranger Camp – Level II (Fox Badge)

On Monday, August 3, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., the park will host a day camp for Rangers aged 6 to 12 years who already have their deer badge and want to move up to the fox badge. Activities include various history and nature related events, a hike to the five-story New Manchester Mill Ruins, a pedal boat program, a green building tour, a reptile show and arts and crafts. The cost is $25 and includes the Junior Ranger book and the fox patch. Lunch is not included. For more information call (770) 732-5871.

Sweetwater Creek by Kayak

On Saturday, August 1, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., enjoy a two-hour paddle through Sweetwater Creek. You’ll be in a tandem kayak. You’ll also take a short hike to the mill ruins so you can see that and whitewater rapids. This event is for those 18 years and older and you must be able to swim. Teens from 12 years through 17 years are also welcome as long as they can swim and have a parent with them. Admission is $25 plus $5 for parking. The kayak, personal flotation device and paddle are included.

Candlelight Hike to the Mill

On Saturday, October 17, November 21 and December 12, 2015, take a mile-ling guided night hike to the Civil War era textile mill ruins of New Manchester. The October and November time are from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and the December time is from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The trail runs alongside the rapids of Sweetwater Creek. Admission is $5 plus $5 parking. The park will provide candle lanterns. Ages 7 and older; and no dogs are permitted. Register and meet at the Interpretive Center.
