Chevy Delivers First Bolt EVs to Customers

In the San Francisco Bay this past December, Chevrolet delivered the first three Bolt EVs to customers, fulfilling the brand’s promise to offer a long-range electric vehicle at an affordable price.

“All of the hard work that the Chevrolet team have put into designing, engineering and building the Bolt EV brings us to this truly satisfying moment of making the first deliveries to customers on-time, as planned,” said Alan Batey, president of GM North America and Global Chevrolet brand chief. “Chevrolet is proud to offer a vehicle like the Bolt EV, with ground-breaking technology wrapped in a modern design that is also fun-to-drive at an affordable price.”

The first three customers to receive the highly anticipated Bolt EV are excited to take delivery and include:

  • William “Bill” Mattos, a retired law enforcement officer from Fremont, California, whose new Bolt EV becomes his third Chevrolet electric, after previously owning a Spark EV and second-generation Volt
  • Bobby Edmonds, a software developer with a family of four from Castro Valley, California, who replaces a BMW i3 with the Bolt EV
  • Steve Henry, a commercial real estate broker with a family of five from Portola Valley, California, whose new Bolt EV replaces a Toyota Prius

“The range and technology attracted me to the Bolt EV,” says Bobby Edmonds. “It’s also a great-looking, roomy vehicle and I love the fact it’s from an American brand. I look forward to the longer drives I can make compared to the i3 that I owned.”

Named the Motor Trend 2017 Car of the Year®, the Bolt EV offers an EPA-estimated 238 miles of range on a full charge, enabling owners to go beyond average daily driving needs with range to spare.

The Bolt EV begins at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $37,495, which includes destination and freight charges, but excludes tax, title, license and dealer fees. Depending on individual tax situations, customers may receive an available federal tax credit of up to $7,500.

Standard features include electronic precision shift, Regen on Demand™ steering wheel paddle and 10.2-inch-diagonal color touch screen. The top-trim Premier model adds leather-appointed seats, front and rear heated seats, surround camera, rear camera mirror and more.

Bolt EVs are currently in transit to California and Oregon markets and are arriving this month. A national rollout begins in 2017, and a number of Northeast and Mid-Atlantic States including New York, Massachusetts and Virginia will see first deliveries this winter. Bolt EVs will arrive to more dealerships in additional major metro markets throughout the first half of 2017. The Bolt EV will be available at Bolt EV-certified dealerships across the United States in mid-2017.

Visit Glacier National Park This Summer

If you are planning a summer road trip, consider driving from Jackson, Wyoming, to Glacier National Park in Montana. Driving from Newnan to Jackson takes about 28 hours if you drive straight through, so plan for extra time to get there and back if you want to make this an epic road trip. Once you start out in Jackson, you’ll see some of the country’s best mountains and wildlife at five national parks. The route from Jackson to Glacier National Park is 600 miles. To get back to Newnan from Glacier National Park, you’ll need to plan for a 33-hour drive.

What to Bring

Be sure to bring binoculars, your camera, hiking shoes and cool-weather clothing along with the things you would normally pack for a summer road trip.

The Trip

Start out with visiting Jenny Lake, which rests in the shadow of the Teton Mountains. In Yellowstone, drive past the Yellowstone Lake; visit Hayden Valley to see buffalo, grizzly bear and elk; and soak in the 100-degree Gardener River, which is two miles north of Mammoth Hot Springs. Be sure to stop in Bozeman to grab a cold drink at the 406 Brewing Company.

Head over to Missoula, but be sure to stop at the Missouri Headwaters State Park. Rent a kayak at Brennan’s Wave, grab some great food at Biga Pizza or stop for a cold drink at the Montgomery Distillery.

Once you hit Whitefish, hike the Whitefish trail and take Highway 2 to the Walton Ranger Station. Hike up to Lake Isabel for some great views. Continue on your way north, stopping at various parks for hiking and biking; birding and to take some great pictures.

The route starts on 89 in Jackson, then picks up 90 in Bozeman and 93 near Missoula. The last part of the journey is on Highway 2 from Whitefish to the Glacier National Park. If you prefer to stay longer in one place, you can skip one of the other parks – but have fun trying to figure out which of these great parks to skip!

Ergo Chairs on Chevy Assembly Line

There are new ideas forming all of the time for lots of different things. Some companies keep their newest developments and news secret until time to reveal. They are always on the lookout for new technology ideas and adjustments to their already stellar vehicles. Your local Newnan Chevy dealer wants to keep you in the loop on the newest articles.

The vehicles Chevrolet makes are fantastic and among the best in the industry. There is something else, though, that is making headlines. The workers that are assembling the new Traverse have been given a very unique tool to complete their work. That’s right, they have been fitted with a high-tech pivoting chair called the ‘Ergo Chair’ that raises them to the correct level in order to perform the duties necessary inside. These chairs are said to have the precision of a ballet dancer and are controlled by the body motions of the worker.

Each chair carries the correct number of parts needed to each job the individual performs. They are simply slid into position on the Ergo Chair, do what they have to do, and then are off to the next order. No longer do they need to crawl through openings or hard to reach places to perform their job functions. This newly developed invention for this company is groundbreaking and will give workers an improvement in safety and health while also improving quality of the vehicle.

So far, there are only two plants in the United States that have these awesome chairs. The plant at Lansing Delta Township and also the Spring Hill Assembly line in Tennessee both have seen these in their day-to-day operations. The Ergo Chair is currently being evaluated for use in assembly environments across America. The next time you load your friends and family up in your Chevrolet Traverse from SouthTowne Motors, remember all of the phenomenal work the amazing team performed thanks to the new robotic Ergo Chairs. Tailgating at a Braves Game

Any time you go to a sports game, whether it is baseball or football, there is always a level of tailgating involved by enthusiastic fans. There’s something magical about setting up your grill and chairs and relaxing with friends and family before a game. The crowd enjoys the camaraderie as well and you can hear everyone talking about their favorite team and even their favorite tailgating burger recipe. Here are a few things from SouthTowne Motors to keep in mind.

If you have never experienced the fun of tailgating at a Brave’s game, then you are missing out. Some of the most exciting moments happen at tailgate parties. But there are a few things you need to keep in mind before you break out the grill and accessories. For starters, tailgating is only allowed in certain parking areas at Turner Field. Furthermore, the use of open flames are only permitted in the grassy area of the Blue Lot only.

The gates open every game day approximately two and a half hours before game time, so be sure to get there ahead of time to claim your space. If you are able and you have a large party attending your tailgating session, it may behoove you to spend a little more for two parking space. This will allow everyone to spread out during the festivities. Another helpful tip is that if you have leftover food before the game begins, put them in plastic or disposable containers. Take these into the park with you and snack at your leisure. Outside food is permitted as long as it is not in glass or metal containers.

One crucial tip is to not slide your hot grill under your car or truck for storage while you are at the game. The heat from the grill can ignite the gas tank and you will be left with a burning mess and a lot of angry tailgaters if it gets out of hand.

Oh, and remember to keep cool if someone badmouths your team — tailgating is supposed to be fun for all attending, regardless of which team they’re going for.

We hope you enjoy the next time you get out there and tailgate with your Newnan Chevy.
