Summertime means getting away from it all and enjoying the wide open roads. If you are armed with an awesome playlist, you will be ready to hit the road in no time. But you can’t just play any old playlist on an otherwise amazing road trip.

If the drive is long, you will want a playlist with an upbeat song selection. Choose many different genres of music to keep the list interesting. No song goes better with windows rolled down and the music playing than the Beach Boys “I Get Around”. Another great tune is “Walking on Sunshine” by Katrina & The Waves. This is a fun and upbeat favorite of children and adults alike. Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin” is a song that could get you through the worst of traffic jams so crank it up and have faith. No true road trip is complete until you’ve added Rascal Flatts “Life Is A Highway” to your mix. Another to include is Capital Cities “Safe and Sound,” which will have everyone singing along. Other song suggestions include:

Tailgating at a Braves Game

Any time you go to a sports game, whether it is baseball or football, there is always a level of tailgating involved by enthusiastic fans. There’s something magical about setting up your grill and chairs and relaxing with friends and family before a game. The crowd enjoys the camaraderie as well and you can hear everyone talking about their favorite team and even their favorite tailgating burger recipe. Here are a few things from SouthTowne Motors to keep in mind.

If you have never experienced the fun of tailgating at a Brave’s game, then you are missing out. Some of the most exciting moments happen at tailgate parties. But there are a few things you need to keep in mind before you break out the grill and accessories. For starters, tailgating is only allowed in certain parking areas at Turner Field. Furthermore, the use of open flames are only permitted in the grassy area of the Blue Lot only.

The gates open every game day approximately two and a half hours before game time, so be sure to get there ahead of time to claim your space. If you are able and you have a large party attending your tailgating session, it may behoove you to spend a little more for two parking space. This will allow everyone to spread out during the festivities. Another helpful tip is that if you have leftover food before the game begins, put them in plastic or disposable containers. Take these into the park with you and snack at your leisure. Outside food is permitted as long as it is not in glass or metal containers.

One crucial tip is to not slide your hot grill under your car or truck for storage while you are at the game. The heat from the grill can ignite the gas tank and you will be left with a burning mess and a lot of angry tailgaters if it gets out of hand.

Oh, and remember to keep cool if someone badmouths your team — tailgating is supposed to be fun for all attending, regardless of which team they’re going for.

We hope you enjoy the next time you get out there and tailgate with your Newnan Chevy.

Chevrolet has always been a brand that you can rely on. Their amazing quality vehicles and modern technology advancements keep this brand above the others. Due to their dedication to service and quality, they have been able to claim both awards this year at the North American International Auto Show. The all-new Chevy Corvette Stingray and the Silverado 1500 took both spots for Car and Truck of the Year. This is actually only the third time in the Show’s 21-year history that one automaker collected both awards.

The Chevy Silverado was recognized for its available 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 engine which churns out over 350 horsepower. This incredible amount of power gives you unrivaled towing and hauling ability and yet switches to use only four cylinders when needed. With an estimated fuel economy of 23 miles to the gallon, this awesome truck is the best in class for any V8 pickup. The Silverado won the Truck of the Year award with no question. The points tallied at the end of the NAIAS showed it with a leading 219 points. Second place was the Jeep Cherokee with 174 points and then the Acura MDX with just 97. This was a landslide win for this truck and for the bowtie brand. After viewing some of the great features and options of this vehicle, it’s understandable why it won.

This truck went through 13 million miles of testing which resulted in a smarter, stronger and more capable truck. The Max Trailering Package makes it easy to tow up to 12,000 pounds and includes enhancements such as a CornerStep rear bumper and removable cargo tie-downs. Spring Break Destinations

The winter weather lately has kept us all feeling a little on the down side. There are going to be floods of people at a lot of the popular Spring Break destinations this year when they finally get the freedom to get out. Break out of this routine and get familiar with some other types of places the entire family can enjoy for Spring Break. Instead of the typical beach setting, why not try for something more local? A great family vacation spot that won’t be as crowded this time of year is Disney World.

Disney World in Florida is just a six and a half hour drive from your Newnan car dealership. Right now, there are resorts that are offering up to 30 percent off on rooms for the next four months. You can upgrade your room and ticket package and get another day for free. This is one place that will leave you believing in magic.

Another idea, assuming you can brave the cold a little longer, is a ski resort. The colder, snowy weather has allowed a lot of skiing facilities to remain open longer. Take advantage of this and work on your ski moves or just enjoy the quiet snowfall in a cabin in the mountains. There are several great outdoor activities that you and your family can partake in.

One idea that many people don’t typically think of for Spring Break is a cruise. These are fabulous and many sites have discounts for the winter and early spring season. If you need to feel sand between your toes, a cheap cruise might just be the way to do it. Imagine being able to sail to a foreign beach and relax on their white sands. While on board, there are still hundreds of activities and things that every member of your party can get into.

So no matter where you end up going, remember to have fun and be safe. If you are taking your car on a long road trip for Spring Break, be sure it’s in top notch condition. If you are in doubt or need help, bring it in to SouthTowne Motors.
