Check Out Cadillac’s Newest Feature

Cadillac has a hot and exciting new feature available only in the 2018 CT6 luxury sedan (for now).

The new system is Cadillac’s cutting edge “Super Cruise” hands-free driving. It’s a semi-autonomous driving system and is being billed as the first true hands-free driving on the freeway.

The sophisticated system uses a variety of technologies working in concert with one another to achieve the semi-autonomous driving experience. Using Lidar, high-res GPS tracking, and a driver monitoring system, Super Cruise allows the car, on certain roads and under particular conditions, to travel significant distances without steering or pedal input from the driver.

Though the driver must still maintain vigilance while the system is working (eyes must remain open and on the road ahead) it frees up a good portion of a driver’s attention and makes the experience akin to riding as a passenger.

The system has some leeway for the driver’s attention. As the driver, you’re able to look away to adjust the radio, pull something from the back seat, or grab something from the center console or glove compartment. If the driver takes too long to return attention back to the road (perhaps they nodded off or are experiencing a medical emergency), the system will first attempt to regain the driver’s attention with seat vibrations, audible warnings, and flashing lights. If that fails to work, the system then ceases to function in an attempt to force the driver to pay attention. If that still doesn’t work, the system will retake control and attempt to coast the vehicle to a safe stop, put on emergency lights, and contact 911.

Under the right conditions and with proper driver use, the system can handle normal road conditions without any direct input from the driver, taking you to the store, along your morning commute, or even to another city for a road trip.

Make Some Unique Halloween Treats

If you are planning a Halloween party, you’ll want some unique Halloween treats. You might have many of these ingredients, but if you don’t, kill two birds with one stone and have your vehicle serviced at SouthTowne Motors, and then head out to the grocery store to pick up the ingredients for these unique party treats.

Halloween Party Mix

  • 1 Egg white, large
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbs. Packed light brown sugar
  • 1 tbs. Chili powder
  • ½ tsp. Salt
  • 5 cups Unsalted popcorn, popped
  • 2 cups Mini pretzel twists
  • 2 cups Roasted peanuts, salted*

* If any of your guests have peanut allergies, substitute another type of nut or more pretzels.

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Using a whisk, mix the egg white, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, the chili powder and the salt in a large bowl. Add the rest of the ingredients and toss everything together, making sure all of the snack food is coated with the liquid mixture.

Spread the mixture on the baking sheet and bake it until it’s crispy, about 20 minutes. Stir the mixture once or twice during the baking time. Cool in the pan on a wire rack until the mixture is completely cooled.

Parmesan Bread Stick Brooms

  • 2 1-pound pieces of frozen pizza dough, thawed
  • 2 tbs. Milk
  • ¼ cup Grated Parmesan cheese

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil. Roll out each piece of dough into a 6-inch by 10-inch rectangle. Flour a chef’s knife and cut each piece into six 10-inch strips. Make 3-inch cuts lengthwise at one end of each of the strips. Keep the cuts about ¼ inch apart. These are the broom straws. Twist and pull the uncut part to form a broom handle. Transfer the broom sticks to the pan, keeping them a couple of inches apart. Spread out the cut ends. Brush the bread stick brooms with milk and sprinkle them with the Parmesan cheese. Bake until the sticks turn golden, about 15 to 18 minutes.

S’more Recipes

Everyone loves the classic S’mores campfire treat. There’s something about the warm, gooey marshmallow and melted chocolate sandwiched between two toasty graham crackers that leaves you feeling nostalgic. If you feel you’ve outgrown the classic S’mores, why not try a twist on the recipe? Your Newnan car dealer has a few for you to try.

Chocolate and Peanut Butter Lovers S’mores

Using creamy peanut butter, spread 1 tablespoon onto a thin Nabisco Chocolate wafer. It’s better to use the peanut butter at room temperature so it’s easiest to work with. Roast a jumbo marshmallow over the campfire until golden brown and slide it onto your peanut buttered wafer. Top with second wafer and smoosh together gently.

We all have been there before. Finally getting to the campsite, unloading and going to get the campfire started, but then the weather kicks up and it starts to rain. Have no fear, you can still enjoy a delicious s’mores treat mason jar style if you’re traveling with your RV. Just follow this easy recipe for a family of four.

Mason Jar S’mores

  • 4 tablespoons graham crackers crumbs
  • 1 pack of 4 chocolate puddings
  • Marshmallow fluff
  • Four small 4 ounce mason jars

In each mason jar, add one tablespoon of graham cracker crumbs. Open chocolate pudding cups and add contents to the jars. Top the pudding with marshmallow fluff making sure to cover the pudding with enough to reach the top. Using your RV’s oven, do a quick broil so your marshmallow fluff starts to turn brown. Have the kids pick out their favorite movie, sit down and enjoy your s’mores in a jar together as a family.

Salted Carmel Bacon S’mores

  • Graham crackers
  • Bacon
  • Jumbo marshmallows
  • Carmel ghirardelli squares

Over a campfire in a skillet, cook your bacon until its extra crispy. Lay them on paper towels to let the grease run off. Now roast your marshmallow to your liking. Once finished, open a ghirardelli caramel square and place on a graham cracker. Add the crispy bacon and now you’re ready for the marshmallow. Slide it onto the graham cracker and gently press it all together. Now you’re ready to tantalize your taste buds with a sweet and salty combination that will have you cooking another one in moments.

We hope you enjoy these tasty versions from your friends at SouthTowne Motors.

Ergo Chairs on Chevy Assembly Line

There are new ideas forming all of the time for lots of different things. Some companies keep their newest developments and news secret until time to reveal. There are a few, however, that are willing to share everything with you upfront. Chevrolet is one of the ones that is always excited to bring you the latest and greatest news dealing with their brand. They are always on the lookout for new technology ideas and adjustments to their already stellar vehicles. Your local Newnan Chevy dealer wants to keep you in the loop on the newest articles.

The vehicles Chevrolet makes are fantastic and among the best in the industry. There is something else, though, that is making headlines. The workers that are assembling the new Traverse have been given a very unique tool to complete their work. That’s right, they have been fitted with a high-tech pivoting chair called the ‘Ergo Chair’ that raises them to the correct level in order to perform the duties necessary inside. These chairs are said to have the precision of a ballet dancer and are controlled by the body motions of the worker.

Each chair carries the correct number of parts needed to each job the individual performs. They are simply slid into position on the Ergo Chair, do what they have to do, and then are off to the next order. No longer do they need to crawl through openings or hard to reach places to perform their job functions. This newly developed invention for this company is groundbreaking and will give workers an improvement in safety and health while also improving quality of the vehicle.

So far, there are only two plants in the United States that have these awesome chairs. The plant at Lansing Delta Township and also the Spring Hill Assembly line in Tennessee both have seen these in their day-to-day operations. The Ergo Chair is currently being evaluated for use in assembly environments across America. The next time you load your friends and family up in your Chevrolet Traverse from SouthTowne Motors, remember all of the phenomenal work the amazing team performed thanks to the new robotic Ergo Chairs. Come see these fantastic SUVs today. We look forward to seeing you soon.

2014 Stingray

Chevrolet is always reinventing their best vehicles. Recently, there has been buzz about what the new 2014 Corvette Stingray is to look and drive like. Well, the wait is over. They have just revealed the new sports car in Detroit at the Russell Industrial Center with hoards of onlookers watching in anticipation.

This highly anticipated coupe is priced starting at $51,000. Of course, there are many options and upgrades and different features you can add to make it your own. You can use the online Stingray configurator to get a good guesstimate on what you might be spending should you want one of these remarkable vehicles.

This car was reinvented from the ground up with the word ‘precision’ in mind. They managed to build a lightweight car with a ton of power and an aesthetically pleasing appearance. This, they call the Stingray. It has been designed with performance in mind and has a hood extractor, brake cooling and powertrain cooling for optimum driving performance.

Everything from the exterior design to the comforts inside were thoughtfully and carefully planned out. The headlamps and taillights were sculpted very elegantly with proportion and beauty. These lights give crisp and clean brightness and efficiency.

The interior is just as spectacular with the genuine Nappa leather which is perfectly smooth to the touch and free from blemishes. The instrument panel is also an amazing feature to behold. It has an 8-inch Hi-def screen that shows the driver real-time performance data. There is also an available Heads-Up Display which project crucial data in front of the driver. Imagine not having to look down at anything as you’re driving. Everything you need is right in your line of vision.

There are two different versions of the driver’s seat available; the Grand Touring seat and the Competition Sport seat. Both are built on a lightweight frame. The main difference is that the Competition Sport seat provides more comfort and support while driving.

Of course, the most important piece of information everyone is waiting for. The driving force coupled to this new machine is a 6.2L LT1 V8 engine that is sure to give the driver at least 460 ponies with a speed of 0-60 in 3.8 seconds.

This magnificent vehicle will be available soon at your Newnan car dealer. You can preorder or wait til they hit the lot. Stop by SouthTowne Motors and take a look at our extensive inventory of other vehicles as well.
