Atlanta Buick Dealer: Surviving A Car Accident, Financially

First let me start by saying, I hope you are never involved in an accident resulting in injury, especially to yourself. However, If you have, and the accident was proven to have not been your fault, Southtowne Motors believes you may have a good compensation claim against the other party. Please keep in mind that I’m not telling you to bring frivolous suits against other drivers. This is only advice for those who were medically proven to have sustained the injury as a direct result of the accident.

With that in mind, I’d like to say further that I really hope that you don’t have to go through the stressful experience of a lawsuit of any kind. However, this is real life and things happen…here’s what to do if  you have to litigate:

Get a copy of the accident report, collect all of your injury information and get a lawyer. Many personal injury lawyers work on a “No Win, No Fee” basis meaning you don’t need to pay them a penny for their services if you don’t win your case. If you do win your case you still will not have to pay their legal costs and the fees, as they will be collected from the other party. If you lose your case, they are very likely to get nothing, that’s why they mostly take cases they believe will win.

In regards to insurance, any medical costs from the hospital, health care and also any medicine you’ve had to purchase can probably be claimed. If any other costs have arose from this car accident then make it clear when you speak to your lawyer, they will need to know the full facts of the accident as well as the pain and costs you have or are suffering from.

Remember, every car accident compensation claim is completely different from any other. It depends on the injuries that were caused, any costs or medical treatment, time off work needed and much more. As well as the time it took them to close the case. It could take a few months or a couple of years, so just keep this in mind when choosing your compensation claim lawyer, get a good one.

Some good questions to ask are :

• Will I get the ‘whole’ of my compensation?
• Will I need to pay a fee?
• Do you recover costs from the other side (i.e. people at fault)?
• Would I need to pay anyone any money once my claim is settled?

Again,  the Southtowne General Motors Superstore hopes you never have to experience any of the above. However, if you do, know that you have the right to file claim against the offending party. Be wise in your choice of lawyer, he should have your best interest in mind…not his.

Atlanta Drivers: Do Shock Tactics Work In Driver’s Education Courses?

If you have kids, then you know, that one day they will be driving and hopefully it’s a Southtowne Motors car. They’ll, no doubt, be attending a driver’s education course. Now, driver’s ed has changed drastically in the past 60 years. There has been more of a shift from shock education…remember all of those horrific videos they’d show to kids about the dangers of driving. Check out the one I found from the 50’s below.

These days, driver’s education is more real world and scenario driven, as opposed to the shock and awe of past driving classroom videos. Which do you think is a better technique? Does the shock really deter kids from abusing their driving privilege? Does focusing on real world scenarios seem to achieve better results, or does it neglect the inherent dangers and responsibilities of driving? What will a driver’s ed course look like in 50 more years? Or, will we be taking flying ed courses to be able to drive our new Atlanta cars? Southtowne General Flying Motors Superstore has a nice ring to it.

Typically a heavier brand, this Cadillac is actually lighter than its closest competitors. Atlanta Cars: Secure Your Infant In Their Car Seat Safely

So, you just had a baby…and what’s that? You aren’t sure how to install your car seat? How did you expect to get baby home? Call the Newnan Southtowne car shuttle? In all seriousness though, you know, new parents have enough to worry about. Change the baby. Feed the baby. Change the baby again. Swaddle the baby. Start baby’s college fund. But, what about securing the baby in their infant seat properly? How do you know you are doing it right, when you aren’t even sure how to change your new arrival’s diapers?

Here’s a quick easy video to watch from Graco, a car seat manufacturer. They do a very good job explaining how easy it can be to install an infant car seat, even if you are new to the whole “baby thing.” Dads, I’m looking at you.

If you are expecting a child soon, get in the practice now of installing your infant seat. The good news is that you’ll really only have to install the base, once that is done, then the rest of the seat clips into it. Of course, as your child gets older, they will need a larger seat, so you are going to want to know how to do it from the “get-go”.

Once you have that baby, it will be using a car seat for a long time. Probably longer than you may think. If you aren’t sure you are installing your baby seat properly, then just swing by Southtowne Motors, and we’ll show you exactly how to do it.

Atlanta Drivers, You Are Looking, But You Aren’t Seeing

I’m sure you’ve all heard the expression, “You maybe  hearing what I’m saying, but you’re not listening” once or twice in your lifetime. Of course, the same can be said when you are behind the wheel, but with a twist; “you’re looking, but you’re not seeing.” At Southtowne Motors, we understand that there are many distractions on the road, most of them will take you away from the task at hand, which is driving. Watch this video below and I think you’ll see what I mean.

It sure is easy to miss what we aren’t looking for, especially when we are driving. There are a lot of things we have to think about such as road conditions, our speed, various traffic laws, different signs and signals and the other drivers around us.  Now add distractions such as cell phones and the radio to the mix and you’ve got quite a lot going on, wouldn’t you say?

The video above was made the London Department of Transportation to heighten motorists awareness of cyclists. The motto of the campaign,  “It’s easy to miss what you aren’t looking for,” is a great message to send to automotive drivers everywhere. There is nothing more important than being aware of our surroundings at all times when we’re in our cars. So what’s the best way to do this?

Stay alert. Being alert (not sleepy or under the influence) allows you to react quickly to potential problems — like when the driver in the car ahead slams on the brakes at the last minute. Obviously, alcohol or drugs (including prescription and over-the-counter drugs) affect a driver’s reaction time and judgment. Driving while drowsy has the same effect and is one of the leading causes of crashes. So rest up before your road trip.

Be aware of your surroundings — pay attention. Check your mirrors frequently and scan conditions 20 to 30 seconds ahead of you. If a vehicle is showing signs of aggressive driving, slow down or pull over to avoid it. If the driver is driving so dangerously that you’re worried, try to get off the roadway by turning right or taking the next exit if it’s safe to do so. Also, keep an eye on pedestrians, bicyclists, and pets along the road.

Do not depend on other drivers. Be considerate of others but look out for yourself. Do not assume another driver is going to move out of the way or allow you to merge. Assume that drivers will run through red lights or stop signs and be prepared to react. Plan your movements anticipating the worst-case scenario.

So Atlanta, the next time you are in your Southtowne car or truck, think about these three things as you drive along.
