Available in SLE, SLT and Denali models, the new GMC SUV’s bold exterior signals the evolution of the brand’s signature cues with stronger, sharper and more sculpted elements such as the grille and lighting features. Its shape was refined in the wind tunnel to help ensure the distinctive profile cuts through the air with optimal efficiency and quietness.

Standard features on the Terrain include a driver controllable Traction Select system, which has options for various driving conditions and scenarios. If you get an AWD model, you also get a FWD mode that disconnects the AWD system to optimize fuel efficiency, a useful feature for when you don’t need AWD engaged.

Inside the passenger cabin, the new Terrain’s interior makes a statement and serves as a fundamental component of the vehicle’s heightened emphasis on refinement and functionality. A Host of Features

The 2016 GMC Sierra 2500HD features a quiet cabin with triple door seals to block outside noise, hydraulic body and engine mounts to reduce vibration and aerodynamic mirrors that reduce wind noise. The GMC Sierra 2500 also gets its excellent gas mileage thanks to the transmission, which is designed to handle all of the torque the engine puts out; and helps with an exhaust braking system. 2017 GMC Acadia Named a 2017 IIHS Top Safety Pick

2016-gmclife-2017-acadia-iihs-top-safety-pick-mh-980x347

Passenger safety is paramount in every vehicle, let alone a family-focused crossover like the new 2017 GMC Acadia. When equipped with the available Driver Alert Package II, the 2017 GMC Acadia is named a “2017 Top Safety Pick” by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

A vehicle earns a 2017 Top Safety Pick designation from the IIHS by receiving “good” ratings in five different crashworthiness tests conducted by the IIHS. These tests include a small overlap front, moderate overlap front, and side-impact collisions, along with roof strength and head restraint tests. Vehicles also need to score at least an “advanced” rating for front crash prevention in order to qualify for the Top Safety Pick designation.

According to the IIHS, the 2017 Acadia received good ratings for all five crashworthiness tests. 2017 Acadia SLT-2 and Acadia Denali models are equipped with the Driver Alert II Package, which incorporates low-speed Front Automatic Braking, Forward Pedestrian Detection, and Forward Collision Alert systems as standard equipment and are part of the front crash prevention system.

From square one, GMC engineers designed the 2017 Acadia to offer driver and passengers alike with ample protection in the case of a collision. The Acadia’s body structure not only incorporates press-hardened, high-strength steels throughout its design, but also new splayed front longitudinal frame rails that flare outward in order to provide an effective structural load path during small overlap frontal collisions.

The 2017 Acadia offers an expansive suite of standard and available safety features through its entire lineup, all designed to help keep occupants safe. Standard equipment includes eight airbag (including head curtain and front side-impact airbags), four-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock braking system (ABS), Stabilitrak stability control, and full-function traction control. A rear-view camera is standard on all models.

The Driver Alert Package I, available on the Acadia SLE-2 and standard on Acadia SLT-1 models, adds a number of active safety features, including Side Blind Zone with Lane Change Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Rear Park Assist.

Acadia’s available Driver Alert Package II, which is standard on Acadia SLT-2 and Acadia Denali models, goes a step further, supplementing the Driver Alert Package I features with the following features:

  • Forward Collision Alert, which may help warn the driver when rapidly approaching another detected vehicle and a collision may be imminent
  • Low-speed Front Automatic Braking, which can help reduce the severity or avoid a crash altogether in some situations by applying or enhancing brake effort
  • Front Pedestrian Braking, which can help reduce the severity of a collision with a detected pedestrian ahead or avoid the collision altogether
  • Following Distance Indicator, which warns the driver when following another vehicle too closely
  • Front and Rear Park Assist
  • Lane Keep Assist, which provides gentle steering wheel input and alerts to help prevent drivers from unintentionally drifting out of their intended lane
  • Safety Alert Driver Seat, which can provide haptic warnings to the driver when an alert is triggered
  • Intellibeam automatic headlamps

Acadia Denali models equipped with the optional Technology Package go further yet, adding a Surround Vision Camera system, which provides a bird’s-eye view of Acadia’s exterior. The Technology Package also adds Adaptive Cruise Control, which can alter cruising speed in order to keep a driver selected following distance from traffic; and Forward Automatic Braking which uses forward-facing cameras and radar sensors to detect collisions in some situations, and help reduce the severity or avoid a collision altogether by applying or enhancing brake efforts.

The all-new 2017 Acadia models also offer Rear Seat Reminder, which aims to give parents an extra prompt to check the rear seats for occupants or belongings before exiting the vehicle. Although Rear Seat Reminder does not actually detect passengers or objects placed in the rear seat, it works by monitoring Acadia’s rear doors. If one is opened and closed within ten minutes of the engine starting, or if they are opened and closed while the vehicle is running, Rear Seat Reminder will provide an audible and visual reminder to the driver to check the rear seat, once the engine is switched off. You should always check your rear seat before exiting the vehicle.

2015 Sierra Beats Heavy Duty Challenge

2015 GMC Sierra 3500HD Newnan, GA 1GT422CGXFF110642

There’s no greater feeling in the world than knowing you drive the best truck out there. You climb into the cab and know you can tackle anything the day throws at you. You feel safe and secure and are eager to begin towing or hauling or whatever project you have. This is the same thrill you receive in the driver’s seat of the 2015 GMC Sierra 3500 HD. This truck was awarded the overall winning title in the 1-ton diesel category of the 2014 Heavy Duty Challenge. Here’s why.

The 2015 Sierra 3500 was put up against its two main competitors, the Ford F350 and the Ram 3500. It’s engine, the 6.6L Duramax Diesel, excelled against the engines of the other two, the Powerstroke diesel and Cummins diesel, respectively. The judges at the event even commented on the inside of the Sierra saying how much they enjoyed the newly designed interior and infotainment display. This truck scored high in vehicle control while towing. Cruise control, diesel exhaust brakes and grade braking help to relieve stress for drivers who do a lot of long-distance hauling and towing.

One of the tests performed was to descend 7.2 miles down the Eisenhower Pass in Colorado, which has up to a 7 percent grade. During this test, they counted how many brake pedal depressions were used. While the Ford tested with one brake depression and the Ram with five, the Sierra blew them out of the water with no brake pedal depressions at all. This is incredible. It also won in several other categories as well including the 0-60 mph on the Milan dragway, fuel economy with a trailer, and the 60-0 mpg braking at Proving Ground. All of these tests have proved that the Sierra is the best truck in class on the market today. Every Sierra HD comes with a five-year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty, Pro Grade Protection, and a two-year or 24,000 mile standard scheduled maintenance.

This winning truck can be found today at your Newnan GMC dealership. Stop by to take a test drive or to see other trucks, cars and SUVs that may suit your needs. We look forward to seeing you soon.

GM is part of the Workplace Charging Challenge and is urging more companies to participate.

GM has always produced safe and reliable vehicles. However, four of their recent cars have been given the IIHS’s top safety rating. Decorating Your Car

For any die hard Christmas junkie, decorating your Chevy car or truck only makes sense. Decorating one’s car is rapidly growing in popularity for all those people who really love celebrating this festive time of year. If you want to decorate your vehicle but are not sure on how to go about it, here are a few ideas to get you started for the holiday season.

Is your favorite Christmas character Rudolph and his wonderful red nose that saved Christmas? Well if so, you’re in luck and your car can be your own person Rudolph. There are many Rudolph car kits that are sold that come with a red nose and two antlers. The nose is easily attached to the front of your car’s grill and the antlers hook over the sides of each window which transforms your car into your own person Rudolph.

It almost sounds completely unbelievable that now you can even have Christmas lights in your vehicle. These Christmas lights plug easily into your cigarette lighter and you then attach them to the windows in your car by adding suction cups. As a safety precaution, make sure to test out your lights before you go driving around town with them on. You don’t want them to be a distraction to both you and the other drivers on the road.

Window markers can be used to write on car windows and other surfaces and are easily removed afterwards. They come in an assortment of colors so try picking up a few festive ones such as green, red, and white. You can write Merry Christmas on the back of your car window along with drawing holiday pictures such as a snowman, a few Christmas trees, Santa and even Rudolph. Just make sure while drawing out your winter wonderland that it isn’t interfering. Be sure you can still see while driving. Safety should always be your number one concern while decorating your car for the holidays.

You can even add a few ornaments inside your car by hanging them inside with suction cups or even hang one or two on each of the hanger hooks you have already inside your car. Just refrain from using glass ornaments in case one happens to fall.

Happy Holidays from your friends at SouthTowne Motors.
