2014 GM Maintenance Program

Today, we watch TV or read the paper and there’s not always good things to report. Well, how about some good news for a change? GM has announced a new maintenance package for all eligible 2014 GMC, Buick and Chevrolet vehicles. You can buy or lease a new 2014 Chevy car, truck or crossover with worry-free scheduled maintenance for 24,000 miles or two years, whichever comes first. That’s incredible!

So what is included in this scheduled maintenance package? For most 2014 vehicles, any GMC, Chevrolet and Buick dealer will perform an oil change including filter, a 4-wheel tire rotation and a 27-point inspection of the vehicle according to the owner’s manual maintenance schedule. They might even throw in a free car wash.

The exceptions to this program are alternative-fueled vehicles that might not include an oil change or performance vehicles which might not need tire rotations. This program covers up to four visits in the 24-month period. And if you sell the vehicle under this time limit, the new owner also receives this benefit.

General Motors Chariman, Dan Ackerson, announced the plan at the GM 2013 annual stockholder’s meeting, “This will kick off our customers’ ownership experience and keep our strong sales momentum going.”

But this program is not exactly new. Cadillac has offered this type of program since 2011. The difference is that Cadillac offers a 48-month/50,000 mile program that will remain unchanged. The new program from GM will be extended retroactively to customers who have already purchased or leased a 2014 model as well.

Many manufacturers already include scheduled maintenance such as Jaguar, BMW, Volkswagen, Mini and Volvo. The competition is heating up to give customers the best packages out there without robbing their wallet.

Getting More Mileage Out of Every Gallon

Gas prices are at record levels, getting up to over four dollars a gallon in some areas for simple unleaded. Every little bit of effort that you can put towards reducing your expenses on fuel for your car can help. So, when you drive off the lot at your favorite Newnan dealership, you’ll want to keep these tips in mind to get your dollar’s worth out of every refueling:

Check Your Oil Regularly

One of the easiest ways to overspend on gas is to neglect your oil. You want to check your oil regularly, top it off when it’s low, and have an oil change every six months or on a regular basis as recommended in your owner’s manual.

Clean Out Your Car

You probably don’t need to be driving around with that bag of cement in your trunk, do you? Clean out your car whenever it gets a little packed, because even ten, twenty pounds of extra weight that you don’t need can really put a dent in your gas expenses over time. Keeping your engine clean with motor cleaner before every fill up can be a big help, as well, allowing your engine to run more efficiently.

Accelerate Slowly

When you hit the ignition and then slam your foot down on the gas pedal, you’re wasting a lot of gas and may potentially do some damage to the engine. Take your time and allow your vehicle to speed up gradually, don’t rush it, don’t gun it, just accelerate at an even pace until you reach your desired speed. You want to practice the same habit when slowly down, as well. Try to drive at an even pace and accelerate and decelerate gradually.

This is more important than ever simply because gas is so prohibitively expensive these days. Ten, twenty years ago, conserving fuel was a matter of saving a few bucks here and there. Today it can make a difference of hundreds of dollars over the course of a year. Got questions? Just stop by our location, call, or leave a comment below!

Tips To Get Your Car Looking Like New Again

There’s nothing like the look and smell of a new car when you drive it away from the a new car dealership. After the normal wear and tear your Cadillac, GMC, Chevy or Buick experiences from leisure or business travel along with dealing with hot sun and freezing rain, your car will lose some of its original glamor. If you have the unfortunate situation of an accident with serious damage or a minor fender bender, this too, ages your car. Consider these useful tips to get your car looking like new:

  • A good wash, wax and vacuum session is a great start to getting your car looking good and to help determine what areas need special attention
  • When vacuuming, use a stiff brush to loosen built up grime from the carpet
  • Tires, rims, grillwork and the exhaust pipe also need to be thoroughly cleaned and polished
  • Use a cleanser to remove any stains on the carpet or upholstery
  • If your car is in relatively good-looking condition, consider a professional service where technicians do in-depth cleaning, waxing, polishing and detailing, inside and out
  • Regardless of the type or depth of blips on the car’s exterior, it takes away from the pizzazz of the new look. Take the car to a body shop and have any dents, dings and scratches repaired.
  • The inside of new and used cars also need freshening up. Drop your car off at a car cleaning service where the inside carpet and upholstery is cleaned and deodorized and the interior vinyl, fabric, wood or leather is conditioned and/or polished
  • If your car windows are already tinted, replace or repair any tinting that is showing signs of wear, bubbles or peeling
  • Replace any seals around windows or the trunk that are frayed and will eventually result in water leakage
  • Get a new paint job if the finish is dull and no amount of wax gives it the “new” look
  • Replace worn tires and add a set of new rims
  • Have the air conditioning system de-odorized to remove build up and that “old” smell
  • Be sure to include a thorough check-up under the hood. Even if the car looks new on the outside, it’s important the inside is running up to par.
