Tailgating With Your Truck

Now that football season has officially started, it’s time to get your truck ready for tailgating. Stop by SouthTowne Motors to test drive a new vehicle that lends itself to tailgating; or give our service department a call to set up an appointment for serviced or to have your vehicle checked before you head out.

What to Pack

When pack for a tailgate party, you’ll need to be organized – you don’t want to forget something as important as the football! Bring a canopy to protect everyone from the sun. Make sure you have plenty of chairs for everyone who is going to party with you or have people bring their own chairs. Be sure that the grill is big enough to cook for everyone in your party. It’s no fun waiting for your food to cook while the other half of the party is already eating.

Remembering the food is the easy part. Don’t forget the condiments and the sides, though. If you are serving hamburgers, don’t forget cheese, lettuce, tomato and pickles. And, plates and plasticware. Don’t laugh – it’s been forgotten somewhere in the world. Also, bring wipes and napkins to clean your hands and face.

When to Arrive

You’ll want to arrive at least three hours before the game. This will give you time to set up your spot, heat up the grill, cook and eat. And, that should give you enough time to get in the stadium a few minutes early so you’re not tripping over everyone to get to your seat. And of course, you’ll want some time to throw a few passes. After all, what is a tailgate party that doesn’t include some football?
