Visit the Gulf Islands

After you pick up a new vehicle from SouthTowne Motors, pack up and head out to the Gulf Islands National Seashore. You’ll enjoy beaches, coastal marshes, historic forts, campgrounds, trails and picnic areas. The area runs from Cat Island in Mississippi 160 miles east to Okaloosa, just east of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida.

Davis Bayou

Visit Davis Bayou, located south of U.S. Highway 90 just east of Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Enjoy hiking, biking, fishing, picnicking, bird watching and other programs. Davis Bayou does not have beaches. The park is open from 8:00 a.m. until sunset.

Fort Pickens

Enjoy swimming, fishing, hiking, historic coastal defense structure and camping at Fort Pickens. The park is open from 5:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.

Naval Live Oaks

Head to the area east of Gulf Breeze, Florida on U.S. 98 to find Naval Live Oaks. Enjoy camping, picnicking and hiking. The park is open from 8:00 a.m. until sunset.

Okaloosa

At the far end of Santa Rosa Island, you’ll find the Okaloosa area where you can enjoy boating, picnicking and swimming. The park is open from 8:00 a.m. until sunset.

Santa Rosa

Opal Beach in the Santa Rosa area is a barrier island that is made of fine quartz sand. Enjoy small animals, shore birds and nesting sea turtles. No glass containers or pets are allowed on the beaches. The park is open from 8:00 a.m. until sunset.

Perdido Key

Head to Perdido Key, off of Florida Route 292 southwest of Pensacola for boating, fishing, hiking and primitive camping. The park is open from 5:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.

Additional Areas

Additional areas include Petit Bois Island, which is open 24 hours and is 10 miles off the Mississippi coast; West Petit Bois Island, which is open 24 hours and is also about 10 miles off the Mississippi coast; Horn Island; East Ship Island; West Ship Island; Cat Island and Fort Barrancas.
